The King Design Class AAA Solar Simulator is a Complete Solar / Photovoltaic Solar Simulator.
Using a Plasma light source to test solar panels, King Design’s Solar Simulator offers a test solution that meets IEC 60904-9 and IEC 61646, 61215 Class A standards without a filter.
The KD Simulator is also capable of testing panels to all of the following IEC61646 clauses 10.2,10.4,10.6,10.9 and light soaking test 10.19
Photovoltaic and Solar panels up to a size of 3.0 meters by 2.4 meters can be tested to adjustable levels ranging from 500W/m2 to 1200W/m2.
The Solar Simulator is made from three main components:
1. A High efficiency plasma lamp array, fitted with bulbs that emit a Class B spectrum when operated at 800 – 1100 W/m2
2. A reflector box homogenizes the diffuse light from the lamps to ensure uniformity and spectrum onto the test specimen. The reflector box is built with a mechanical structure and cabling elements dedicated to the light-engine array.
The sample surface is placed 20mm under the reflector edge. A door gives the user full access to the illuminating chamber when the system is non-operational.
3. The sample holder is air-cooled via a chiller unit to control and maintain a consistent temperature during the illumination tests.
