At Keidanren Hall, Tokyo on 8th February 2013, the Japan Machinery Federation awarded its prestigious 2013 President’s Award for Energy Conserving Machinery to the IMV ECO-Shaker Vibration Testing System. The integrated, intelligent management concept was particularly highly commended and led to the award.

The Intelligent Shaker Management System (ISM), developed by IMV’s in-house engineering team, provides real-time feedback on CO2 emissions and electrical usage, automatically minimising running costs through optimisation of energy used. Energy optimisation is performed fully automatically and is constantly optimised throughout the test according to payload and test conditions, even if these change as the test routine progresses. Less noise pollution is also achieved providing an improved test house environment and a greener way to vibration test equipment. System diagnostics and service support aspects of vibration testing are brought together into one easy to use interface, thereby increasing system availability. Customer return on investment is improved through both energy saving and increased system up-time.

Consumed electricity can be reduced by up to 80% depending on the test conditions and many case studies show energy cost savings can be in the order of several thousand euros per year up to tens of thousands of euros per year. IMV is the world’s leading Vibration Test Equipment Company offering vibration test solutions and services with offices in Europe and across the world. The Japan Machinery Federation (JMF) is a National organisation representing the machinery and engineering industry. Its members are leading engineering companies and trade associations from the sector.

The Energy Conserving Machinery Award was established by the JMF to enhance and promote the development of energy-conserving machinery by rewarding a person, group or company which contributes to the efficient use of energy by developing energy conserving machinery.
